  Additional information to know more of American Gods, American Gods is an American television series based on the novel of the same name, written by Neil Gaiman and originally published in 2001.
  
  The television series was developed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for the premium cable network Starz. Fuller and Green are the showrunners for the series. Gaiman serves as an executive producer along with Fuller, Green, Craig Cegielski, Stefanie Berk, and Thom Beers.
  
  The series focuses on Shadow Moon, who meets a strange man named Mr. Wednesday after being released from prison. Shadow Moon soon becomes embroiled in a large-scale conflict between the Old Gods and the New Gods, who grow stronger each day.
  
  The first episode premiered on the Starz network and through their streaming application on April 30, 2017. The first season concluded on June 18, 2017; in May 2017, the series was renewed for a second season.
  
  A bit reminder from “A Prayer for Mad Sweeney” Ibis tells the story of Essie, an Irish girl who was raised on stories of leprechauns, for whom she would leave offerings in exchange for blessings. When accused of stealing a necklace, she is sentenced to seven years as an indentured servant in America. During the journey, she seduces the ship captain and persuades him to take her to London. There she becomes a thief; she is caught and sentenced to hang after forgetting an offering. She sleeps with the elderly prison warden and becomes pregnant, thereby avoiding hanging.
  
  She is sentenced again to go to America as an indentured servant, where someone will buy her contract. She marries her master who, upon his death, leaves her in charge of his farm. She continues to make offerings to the leprechauns. Although she stops telling their stories, Essie’s strong belief attracts a visit from Sweeney.
  
  He thanks her, as her belief enabled him to start a new life in America, and then takes her to the afterlife. Having parted ways with Salim, Sweeney tells Laura that he deserted as a soldier and is taking part in Wednesday’s war to atone. The truck they are driving is overturned and Sweeny’s lucky coin falls out of Laura. Sweeney restores the coin to her due to his guilt for having caused her fatal accident, under Wednesday’s orders.
  
  Did youk now already of American Gods? In 2011, American Gods author Neil Gaiman stated at the Edinburgh International Book Festival that HBO had expressed an interest in adapting the novel into a television series.
  
  In March 2013, Gaiman spoke of the project’s progress at the Cambridge International Student Film Festival, and confirmed that the prospective series’ opening episode would “contain new elements and details” while still remaining “a lot like the opening chapters of the book”.

  He also commented that the book would only make up the first two seasons of the show and that he was still working on the pilot script, as his first script was not close enough to his book for HBO’s satisfaction.
